SUMNER COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED

On September 28, 2009, William P. Jones of Sumner County, Tennessee, was suspended by the
Tennessee Supreme Court, pursuant to a Conditional Guilty Plea, for a period of five (5) years pursuant to Rule
9, Section 4.2, of the Rules of the Supreme Court. Mr. Jones’ suspension will be effective ten (10) days from
the date of the Supreme Court Order.

Mr. Jones violated disciplinary rules by misappropriating funds, misrepresenting the priority of liens and
mortgages on real estate, wrongfully executing releases, wrongfully notarizing documents and wrongfully
retaining funds belonging to other lien holders in connection with his mortgage brokering business. Mr. Jones’
actions violated DR 1-1-2(A)(1)(4)(5)(6) and DR 9-102 of the Code of Professional Conduct and Rules 1.8,
1.15 and 8.4(a)(c)(d) of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct.

Mr. Jones also agreed to pay a total of $30,000 in restitution to two (2) complainants. Mr. Jones was
furthered ordered to pay the expenses and costs of the disciplinary proceedings against him, pursuant to Rule 9,
Section 4.7, of the Rules of the Supreme Court, and fully comply in all respects with the requirements and
obligations of suspended attorneys as set forth in Rule 9, Section18.1 of the Rules of the Supreme Court.
