KINGSTON LAWYER SUSPENDED
On September 11, 2008, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order suspending the law license of
Spence R. Bruner, a Kingston attorney, for ninety (90) days retroactive to Mr. Brunerâs Temporary Suspension
on January 29, 2008, and placing Mr. Bruner on probation for three (3) years, conditioned upon Mr. Brunerâs
compliance with his Tennessee Lawyerâs Assistance Program (TLAP) monitoring agreement.
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline and Supplemental Petition for
Discipline against Mr. Bruner alleging that Mr. Bruner had neglected several clientsâ cases, and failed to
communicate with clients in part resulting in Mr. Brunerâs suspension from the practice of law before the
United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
Mr. Bruner submitted a Conditional Guilty Plea agreeing to be suspended for ninety (90) days,
retroactive to Mr. Brunerâs Temporary Suspension on January 29, 2008, and further agreeing to be on probation
for three (3) years. Mr. Brunerâs actions violated the Rules of Professional Conduct. Mr. Bruner may resume
the practice of law without further order of reinstatement by the Tennessee Supreme Court.
