Suspended for 180 days by order entered August 23, 1989, with 135 days being held in abeyance
on the condition Ramsey not be found in contempt of court during the remainder of his term of
office ending August 31, 1990; and the beginning date for the remaining 45 day suspension
being July 20, 1989. A hearing was held before a hearing panel, who recommended the 180
suspension. Ramsey appealed to the Anderson County Chancery Court, and afterwards to the
Supreme Court of Tennessee.
