NASHVILLE LAWYER CENSURED
On February 26, 2007, the Board of Professional Responsibility publicly censured attorney
Ronald Lee Stone, Sr. Stone was given notice of the censure and did not request a hearing.
Stone represented a client in his divorce. While Stone was out of town, a default judgment was
entered against his client. More than thirty days passed prior to Stone learning of the default judgment. Stone
failed to advise his client of the default. Stone violated Rules 1.3; 1.4; 3.2 and 8.4(a)(d) of the Tennessee Rules
of Professional Conduct by neglecting his clientâs case and failing to communicate with his client. Stone
acknowledged his client was entitled to a full refund of his fee, however, Stone failed to provide any such
refund in violation of Rule 1.5 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct.
The censure declares Stoneâs actions to be improper but does not limit his right to practice law.
