ORDER TRANSFERRING ATTORNEY TO
DISABILITY INACTIVE STATUS

This matter is before the Court following a hearing to determine Deon Devall
Owensby’s capacity to practice law and defend against disciplinary charges pursuant to
Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.4.

Upon due consideration of the findings and recommendation of the hearing panel
following a hearing conducted on October 12, 2020, the Court concludes Deon Devall
Owensby is currently incapacitated from continuing the practice of law and unable to
participate in the pending Petition for Discipline, Docket No. 2019-2975-0-AW.

IT IS, THEREFORE, CONSIDERED, ORDERED, ADJUDGED AND DECREED
BY THE COURT THAT:

1. The law license of Deon Devall Owensby shall be transferred to disability
inactive status indefinitely and until further orders of the Supreme Court, and disciplinary
proceedings shall be suspended pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, Section 27.4(b).

2. Mr. Owensby shall be allowed to petition for reinstatement to active status
pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.7.

3. The Board shall publish notice of this transfer pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, §§
27.5 and 28.11.

4. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 32.4, documents other than this Order relating
to Mr. Owensby’s disability proceeding shall not be public records and shall be kept
confidential.
