MURFREESBORO LAWYER TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED BY SUPREME COURT
By Order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee filed March 28, 2005, David L. Goad's
license to practice law was temporarily suspended, pursuant to Section 4.3 of Rule 9, Rules of
the Supreme Court of Tennessee, upon a finding that Mr. Goad posed a threat of irreparable
harm to the public.
The entry of the March 28, 2005, Order precludes Mr. Goad from accepting any new
cases effective March 28, 2005. Mr. Goad may continue to represent existing clients for thirty
days. Mr. Goad must cease representing existing clients effective April 27, 2005. After
April 27, 2005, Mr. Goad shall not use any indicia of lawyer, legal assistant, or law clerk, etc.,
nor maintain a presence where the practice of law is conducted.
The Order requires Mr. Goad to notify by registered or certified mail all clients being
represented in pending matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel, of the Supreme
Court's Order suspending his law license. Section 18 of Supreme Court Rule 9 requires Mr.
Goad to deliver to all clients any papers or property to which they are entitled.
Mr. Goad may for good cause request dissolution or modification of this suspension by
petition to the Supreme Court. This suspension remains in effect until dissolution or
modification by the Supreme Court.
