PUBLIC CENSURE

The above complaint was filed against Brian Chadwick Rickman, #017534, an attorney
licensed to practice law in Tennessee, alleging certain acts of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup.
Ct. R. 9, the Board of Professional Responsibility considered this matter at its meeting on
September 8, 2023.
Mr. Rickman represented a client in a car wreck matter. Mr. Rickman agreed in writing to
a settlement offer from the defendant without his clientâs knowledge or approval. Mr. Rickman
later withdrew from the representation, and opposing counsel discovered that the client had not
been aware of the settlement. Mr. Rickman has failed to respond to this disciplinary complaint.
By the aforementioned acts, Brian Chadwick Rickman, is in violation of Rules of
Professional Conduct 1.1 (competence), 1.2 (scope of representation), 1.3 (diligence), 1.4
(communication), 1.16 (termination of representation) and 8.1 (disciplinary matters), and he is
hereby Publicly Censured for these violations.
