KNOXVILLE LAWYER CENSURED
On October 28, 2008, Anthony M. Avery, of Knoxville, Tennessee, received a Public Censure from the
Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
In the representation of his client, the Respondent settled a civil matter for the sum of $17,500.00. The
Respondent commingled the proceeds of the settlement with his own money by placing the settlement proceeds
in and disbursing same from his operating account rather than an escrow account. The client suffered no loss.
The acts of Anthony M. Avery violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15.
For these violations, the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee
publicly censured Anthony M. Avery. A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not
affect the attorneyâs ability to practice law.
