MEMPHIS LAWYER CENSURED
On April 17, 2008, John Edward Dunlap, of Memphis, Tennessee, received a Public Censure from the
Tennessee Supreme Court.
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Mr. Dunlap pursuant to
Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Mr. Dunlap submitted a Conditional Guilty Plea agreeing to
accept a Public Censure. Mr. Dunlap failed to comply with applicable local rules before the United States
Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, failed to comply with several Orders and instructions
issued by that Court, and demonstrated a pattern of dilatoriness in cases he handled before that Court. Mr.
Dunlap violated Rules 1.3,1.16(a)(1), 5.5(a) and 8.4(a) and (d) of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct.
Mr. Dunlap is also ordered to pay to the Board of Professional Responsibility expenses and costs of this matter.
For these violations, the Supreme Court of Tennessee publicly censures John Edward Dunlap. This
censure declares Mr. Dunlapâs conduct to be improper, but does not limit his right to practice law.
