SHELBY COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED

On January 23, 2023, Paul Forrest Craig, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.

Mr. Craig failed to effectuate service of process in a timely manner upon defendants in a civil action, or
otherwise advance the case on behalf of his client. Upon receipt of notice from the court that the case would be
dismissed unless action was taken, Mr. Craig also failed to file any motion seeking to preserve the case.
Finally, Mr. Craig misread the court’s order of dismissal as being “without prejudice” and negligently informed
his client that she had one year to refile her complaint.

Mr. Craig executed a Conditional Guilty Plea acknowledging his conduct violated Tennessee Rules of
Professional Conduct 1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication), and 3.2 (expediting litigation). As a condition of
the Public Censure, Mr. Craig is required to pay expenses and costs to the Board of Professional Responsibility.

A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to
practice law.
