BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

CROSSVILLE LAWYER CENSURED

Thomas Lee Bean, a Crossville attorney, received a Public Censure from the Board of
Professional Responsibility on January 22, 2004, for preparing a Durable Power of Attorney on
or about May 13, 1998, at the request of the client, someone other than the grantor of the Power
of Attorney. At the request of the client, Mr. Bean included language in the Power of Attorney
that it was signed April 2, 1997. The signature of the grantor was forged on the Power of
Attorney and the document was used by the client in an effort to obtain assets of the grantor. Mr.
Bean did not participate in forging the signature on the Power of Attorney and did not know of or
participate in the criminal enterprise.

Mr. Bean's conduct, nonetheless, violated DR 1-102(A)(1)(4)(5)(6) and DR 7-
102(A)(5)(6)(7) of the Code of Professional Responsibility.

A Public Censure is a form of public discipline which declares the conduct of the lawyer
improper but does not limit the lawyer's right to practice.
