KNOXVILLE LAWYER CENSURED
On September 5, 2006, the Board of Professional Responsibility issued a censure as to
Bruce E. Poston, an attorney who practices in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Poston represented a
client when he appealed to the Court of Criminal Appeals. Because he had failed to file a brief,
the Court of Criminal Appeals issued a show cause order, requiring Mr. Poston to appear before
it on September 27, 2005. Mr. Poston failed to appear on that date. He was subsequently held in
contempt of the Court of Criminal Appeals for his failure to file a brief. The Court held that he
be imprisoned for 12 hours and fined $50.
This censure was issued pursuant to Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
Mr. Poston was given notice of this censure and did not request a hearing. The Censure does not
limit Mr. Postonâs ability to continue to practice law.
