RUTHERFORD COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED
Effective August 10, 2026, the Supreme Court of Tennessee suspended Kirk D. Catron from the practice
of law for six (6) months pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 12.2, with thirty (30) days active
suspension, and the remainder served on probation with conditions pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule
9, Section 14.1.
A Petition for Discipline containing two (2) complaints was filed by the Board wherein Mr. Catron, in his
effort to withdraw from representation, filed a Motion to Withdraw and attached an exhibit to the Motion
containing pages of confidential communications between himself and his client. The inclusion of the confidential
information was not authorized and no exception to the prohibition of disclosing client confidential information
existed. In the second complaint, Mr. Catron failed to diligently represent his client in a domestic relations matter
and further failed to protect his clientâs interest during a period of time Mr. Catron was unavailable.
Mr. Catron executed a conditional guilty plea acknowledging his conduct violated Tennessee Rules of
Professional Conduct 1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication), 1.6 (confidentiality of information), 1.16 (terminating
representation), and 8.4 (misconduct).
Mr. Catron must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Sections 28 and 30.4,
regarding the obligations and responsibilities of suspended attorneys and the procedure for reinstatement.
