KNOX COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On November 2, 2011, Melanie Ann Campbell-Brown, an attorney licensed to practice law in
Tennessee, received a Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme
Court.
Ms. Campbell-Brown paid advance funds to numerous clients for purposes other than court costs and
expenses of litigation, made one such payment from her attorney trust account, and notarized documents in
violation of statutory requirements.
By the aforementioned acts, Melanie Ann Campbell-Brown has violated Rules of Professional Conduct
RPC 1.8(e) (conflict of interest), 1.15(b) (safekeeping property) and 8.4(c) (misconduct) and is hereby Publicly
Censured for this violation.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
