ETHRIDGE, HENRY T. JR. BPR # 008762
June 15, 1983 County:Madison District:7
Suspended for five (5) years by order entered June 15, 1983. He appealed a judgment of
disbarment recommended by a hearing panel. The Chancery Court found that he (1) neglected to
notify his clients and witnesses of a trial date and also later failed to advise the clients that he had
signed and approved entry of a default judgment; (2) failed to file an answer on behalf of a client
in a divorce case; (3) either intentionally gave false statements and evidence in an affidavit
presented to the Court, or his memory and mental state was so deficient that his actions were the
result of an unintentional mental error; and (4) participated in the clandestine payment of a
considerable sum of money to secure executive clemency for an ineligible client which
amounted to a conspiracy to commit a crime of moral turpitude. The Chancery Court
recommended the 5 year suspension and Ethridge did not appeal the decision.
