CENTERVILLE LAWYER TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
FROM PRACTICE OF LAW
Douglas P. Nanney, of Centerville, was temporarily suspended from the practice of law
by the Tennessee Supreme Court. The Supreme Court, on October 26, 2004, entered an Order
pursuant to Section 14 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. Nanney pled guilty to a violation of
40-35-313 Tennessee Code Annotated, a Class E Felony, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Court ordered that Nanneyâs matter be referred to the Board of Professional Responsibility
for the institution of formal proceedings in which the sole issue to be determined would be the
final discipline to be imposed against Nanney as a result of his conviction. His suspension shall
remain in effect until there is a final determination as to the extent of discipline that should be
imposed as a result of his guilty plea.
Section 18 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9 requires that Nanney notify by registered
or certified mail all clients being represented in pending matters; all co-counsel and opposing
counsel of the Supreme Courtâs order suspending his license. Section 18 also requires Nanney to
deliver to all clients any papers or property to which they are entitled.
