DICKSON ATTORNEY PUBLICLY CENSURED

On August 7, 2002, the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of
Tennessee publicly censured Attorney Joseph L. Hornick for practicing law while
suspended.

The Tennessee Supreme Court suspended Hornick for 30 days by order filed January
29, 2002. While suspended the respondent met with a new client and accepted a fee
for the respondent’s representation of that client. The respondent contacted the Clerk’s
office and the Judge’s office in an effort to obtain a continuance on behalf of his client.
Hornick then advised the Judge’s office that Hornick had been suspended. The Judge
then advised Hornick’s client that Hornick had been suspended. Hornick subsequently
met with this client and gave the client a complete refund. The Board of Professional
Responsibility publicly censures Hornick for continuing to practice law in violation of the
Tennessee Supreme Court’s order suspending Hornick for 30 days.
