NASHVILLE LAWYER SUSPENDED
On March 5, 2008, the Tennessee Supreme Court temporarily suspended the law license of Newton S.
Holiday, a Nashville Attorney, pursuant to Section 4.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. The Board of
Professional Responsibility petitioned the Court to temporarily suspend Holidayâs law licenses because of
Holidayâs failure to respond to a complaint of ethical misconduct.
Pursuant to Rule 9, Section 4.3, Holiday cannot accept new clients or undertake any new representation.
He may represent existing clients for 30 days, after which he cannot represent them. Holiday may file an
application with the Tennessee Supreme Court requesting a dissolution or modification of the temporary
suspension order. If he makes such an application, a hearing to consider whether the suspension should be
continued, modified or dissolved will be conducted before a panel consisting of two members of the Board and
one Hearing Committee member from Davidson County.
