RUTHERFORD COUNTY ATTORNEY DISBARRED

On February 14, 2011, the Tennessee Supreme Court disbarred Tony Lawrence Maples, a Murfreesboro
attorney, pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 4.1. Mr. Maples violated disciplinary rules by
abandoning his practice, failing to represent his clients with diligence and competence, failing to communicate
with his clients, misappropriating the property of another and making misrepresentations to clients and third
parties. Mr. Maples’ actions violated Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 8, Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1
(Competence), 1.3 (Diligence), 1.4 (Communication), 1.5 (Fees), 1.16 (Declining and Terminating
Representation), 3.3 (Candor Toward the Tribunal), 8.1(b) (Bar Admission and Disciplinary Matters), and 8.4
(Misconduct).

Mr. Maples was furthered ordered to pay the expenses and costs of the disciplinary proceedings against
him, pursuant to Rule 9, Section 4.7, of the Rules of the Supreme Court and fully comply in all respects with the
requirements and obligations of disbarred attorneys as set forth in Rule 9, Section 18.1 of the Rules of the
Supreme Court.
