WEAKLEY COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED
On September 1, 2022, the Tennessee Supreme Court suspended Thomas Allen Tansil, Jr., from the
practice of law for five (5) years, with one (1) year served as an active suspension and the remainder to be
served on probation, conditioned upon completion of an evaluation by the Tennessee Lawyer Assistance
Program, compliance with any recommended monitoring agreement and compliance with the terms and
conditions of his criminal probation and restitution. Mr. Tansil is credited with the period of suspension served
since the entry of the Order of Enforcement on September 15, 2021, with the exclusion of the sixty (60) days
Mr. Tansil was incarcerated.
Mr. Tansil submitted a conditional guilty plea acknowledging his conviction in the Circuit Court of
Carroll County, Tennessee, of Theft of Property, Tampering with Government Records, and Computer Offenses
violated Rules of Professional Conduct 8.4 (b) and (c).
Pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 28.1, the suspension is effective upon entry of the
order by the Supreme Court. Mr. Tansil must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule
9, Sections 28 and 30.4, regarding the obligations and responsibilities of suspended attorneys and the procedure
for reinstatement.
