PUBLIC CENSURE

The above complaint was filed against Charles Rufus Bobbitt, #21846, an attorney licensed

to practice law in Tennessee, alleging certain acts of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9,

the Board of Professional Responsibility considered these matters at its meeting on March 9, 2018.

Mr. Bobbitt represented a client in seeking modification of a parenting plan. Mr. Bobbitt

did not affix a proposed parenting plan and verified statement of income to his petition, as required

by statute. The Court entered an order requiring Mr. Bobbitt to correct these deficiencies. Mr.

Bobbitt failed to do so, which resulted in the dismissal of the petition. Additionally, Mr. Bobbitt

did not file a timely reply to Opposing counsel’s counter-petition. A default judgment was entered

on the counter-petition after Mr. Bobbitt failed to appear at the default hearing despite being given

proper notice. Mr. Bobbitt also failed to maintain good communication with his client throughout

the representation.
