NASHVILLE ATTORNEY CENSURED

On November 16, 2005, George H. Thompson, III, of Nashville, Tennessee,
received a public censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility. Thompson was given
notice of the censure and did not request a hearing.

Thompson first consulted with the Complainant in July, 2003, regarding the
Complainant’s personal injury case. Thompson filed the Complainant’s General Sessions suit on
October 10, 2003. After filing the complaint, Thompson continued the Complainant’s case
indefinitely to allow the Complainant to have surgery and reach maximum medical recovery.
Thompson acknowledges a period of lax communication with his client, the Complainant. On
March 25, 2005, the Complainant consulted with other counsel regarding taking over the
Complainant’s case from the Respondent. Thompson states that he believed after receiving this
March 25, 2005 letter that the Complainant had retained other counsel. Thompson’s inaction on
the Complainant’s case and failure to communicate with the Complainant violates Rules 1.3; 1.4
and 8.4 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. The censure declares Thompson’s
actions to be improper but does not limit his right to practice law.
