MEMPHIS LAWYER TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
On May 27, 2010, the Supreme Court of Tennessee issued an order summarily and temporarily
suspending King Bethel Harris from the practice of law upon finding that Mr. Harris has failed to respond to the
Board regarding a complaint of misconduct. Section 4.3 of Supreme Court Rule 9 provides for the immediate
summary suspension of an attorney=s license to practice law in cases of an attorney=s failure to respond to the
Board regarding a complaint of misconduct.
Pursuant to an order entered on January 3, 2008, Mr. Harris is also serving a one (1) year suspension
based upon a prior disciplinary matter. Pursuant to Section 19.1 of Supreme Court Rule 9, an attorney
suspended for one (1) year or more may not resume the practice of law until reinstated by the Tennessee
Supreme Court. To date, Mr. Harris has not requested, nor has he been granted, reinstatement from the prior
disciplinary matter.
Mr. Harris may petition for dissolution of the temporary suspension as provided in Supreme Court Rule
9, Section 4.3; however, the dissolution of the temporary suspension will not affect the continuing validity of
the January 3, 2008 suspension in the prior disciplinary matter.
