REVISED RELEASE
CHATTANOOGA LAWYER REINSTATED BY SUPREME COURT
Howard Brownlow Barnwell, a Chattanooga attorney, has been reinstated to the practice
of law by Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court entered on September 17, 2004. Mr. Barnwell
was temporarily suspended from the practice of law by Order of the Supreme Court on June 11,
2004, for failing to respond to a complaint of misconduct. On July 2, 2004, Mr. Barnwell filed a
Petition for Dissolution of Order of Temporary Suspension.and a response to the complaint. A
hearing was conducted on July 19, 2004. On July 27, 2004, the Hearing Panel recommended
that the temporary suspension be dissolved. By Order filed August 12, 2004, the Supreme Court
required Mr. Barnwell to pay trial and appellate clerkâs costs of his temporary suspension. Such
costs were paid and the temporary suspension dissolved.
