FRANKLIN COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On July 19, 2018, Joseph Scott Bean, Jr., an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
During the duration of his four-year disciplinary suspension, Mr. Bean has maintained a trust account
and used it as his personal checking account. Although there was no evidence that client funds were involved,
Mr. Beanâs conduct was improper and violated Rule 1.15 regarding trust accounts.
By these acts, Mr. Bean has violated Rule of Professional Conduct 1.15 (Safekeeping Property and
Funds), and is hereby Publicly Censured for this violation.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
