ORDER TRANSFERRING ATTORNEY TO
DISABILITY INACTIVE STATUS
This matter is before the Court upon a petition to transfer Steven Lee Lefkovitz to
disability inactive status filed by the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility
(âBoardâ) pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.4.
Upon due consideration of medical correspondence provided to the Board by Mr.
Lefkovitz, the Court concludes that Steven Lee Lefkovitz currently suffers from a disability
by reason of mental or physical infirmity or illness, which makes it impossible for him to
respond to or defend against the Petition for Discipline, Docket No. 2022-3298-5-AC, and
Disciplinary Complaint File No. 65389-5-DB.
IT IS, THEREFORE, CONSIDERED, ORDERED, ADJUDGED, AND
DECREED BY THE COURT THAT:
1. The law license of Steven Lee Lefkovitz shall be transferred to disability
inactive status for an indefinite period of time and until further orders of the Supreme Court.
2. Mr. Lefkovitz shall comply with Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 in all respects and
particularly as provided in Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 28, regarding the responsibilities of
attorneys transferred to disability inactive status.
3. Mr. Lefkovitz shall be allowed to petition for reinstatement to active status
pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.7.
4. The Board shall publish notice of this transfer pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R.
9, §§ 27.5 and 28.11.
5. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 32.4, documents other than this Order
relating to Mr. Lefkovitzâs disability proceeding shall not be public records and shall be
kept confidential.
6. The Court deems it proper and advisable to suspend any disciplinary
proceedings or complaints against Mr. Lefkovitz until further orders of this Court pursuant
to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, Section 27.4(b)
