BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
January 12, 2007
KNOXVILLE LAWYER TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED BY SUPREME COURT
By Order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee filed January 10, 2007, David Pittard Ward's license to
practice law was temporarily suspended, pursuant to Section 4.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, upon a
finding that Mr. Ward had failed to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility concerning a complaint
of misconduct.
The January 10, 2007, Order precludes Mr. Ward for accepting any new clients effective January 10,
2007. Mr. Ward may continue to represent existing clients for thirty days. Mr. Ward must cease representing
all clients effective February 9, 2007. After February 9, 2007, Mr. Ward shall not use any indicia of lawyer,
legal assistant, or law clerk, etc., nor maintain a presence where the practice of law is conducted.
The Order requires Mr. Ward to notify by registered or certified mail all clients being represented in
pending matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel, of the Supreme Court's Order suspending his law
license. Section 18 of Supreme Court Rule 9 requires Mr. Ward to deliver to all clients any papers or property
to which they are entitled.
Mr. Ward may for good cause request dissolution or modification of this suspension by petition to the
Supreme Court. This suspension remains in effect until dissolution or modification by the Supreme Court.
