WILLIAMSON COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED
Effective May 19, 2026, the Supreme Court of Tennessee suspended Jason Scott Mangrum from the
practice of law for four (4) years pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 12.2, with five (5) months
active suspension, and the remainder served on probation with conditions pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court
Rule 9, Section 14.1.
A Petition for Discipline containing two (2) complaints was filed by the Board alleging Mr. Mangrum
failed to adequately represent clients, failed to abide by client wishes, failed to act diligently, failed to return client
property, failed to respond to discovery, failed to respond to dispositive motions, dismissed a party and claim
without authorization from the client, made frivolous claims, and failed to communicate.
Mr. Mangrum executed a conditional guilty plea acknowledging his conduct violated Tennessee Rules of
Professional Conduct 1.2 (scope of representation), 1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication), 1.15(d) (safekeeping
property), 1.16 (terminating representation), 3.1 (meritorious claims), 3.2 (expediting litigation), 3.4 (fairness to
opposing party and counsel), and 8.4 (misconduct).
Mr. Mangrum must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Sections 28 and
30.4, regarding the obligations and responsibilities of suspended attorneys and the procedure for reinstatement.
