NASHVILLE LAWYER CENSURED

On October 23, 2020, Jamaal L. Boykin, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Mr. Boykin was fully retained to represent a client in a bankruptcy proceeding. Mr. Boykin never filed
a bankruptcy petition for his client but led his client to believe that a petition was filed. Mr. Boykin then ceased
communicating with his client and effectively abandoned the representation. In mitigation, Mr. Boykin
corrected the issues which led to his misconduct and provided a full refund to the client.

By these acts, Jamaal L. Boykin has violated Rule of Professional Conduct 1.3 (diligence), 1.4
(communication), 1.5 (fees), 1.16 (terminating representation), and 8.4(a)(c)(d) (misconduct) and is hereby
Publicly Censured for these violations.

A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to
practice law.
