CLARKSVILLE LAWYER SUSPENDED FROM PRACTICE OF LAW
Robert C. Marks, a Clarksville attorney, has been temporarily suspended from the practice
of law in this state by Order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee, filed July 11, 2002. The
Supreme Court suspended Mr. Marks based upon a petition filed by the Board of
Professional Responsibility alleging that Mr. Marks failed to respond to a complaint of
misconduct. This suspension was issued pursuant to Section 4.3 of Tennessee Supreme
Court Rule 9. This rule provides that Mr. Marks shall be precluded from accepting any new
cases after July 11, 2002 and that he shall be precluded from representing existing clients
after August 10, 2002. After August 10, 2002, Mr. Marks shall not use any indicia of lawyer,
legal assistant, or law clerk nor maintain a presence where the practice of law is conducted.
The order requires Mr. Marks to notify by registered or certified mail all clients being
represented in pending matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel, of the
Supreme Courtâs order suspending his law license. Section 18 of Supreme Court Rule 9
requires Mr. Marks to deliver to all clients any papers or property to which they are entitled.
This suspension will remain in effect until dissolution or modification by the Supreme Court.
Mr. Marks may for good cause request dissolution or modification of the suspension by
petition to the Supreme Court.
