DRESDEN LAWYER TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
On November 30, 2006, the Supreme Court of Tennessee issued an Order summarily and
temporarily suspending Harry Max Speightâs license to practice law upon finding that Mr. Speight had
misappropriated funds to his own use.
The November 30, 2006 Order precludes Mr. Speight from accepting any new cases effective
November 30, 2006. Mr. Speight must cease representing existing clients effective December 30, 2006. After
December 30, 2006, Mr. Speight shall not use any indicia of lawyer, legal assistant, or law clerk nor maintain a
presence where the practice of law is conducted.
The Order restricts Mr. Speight from making any withdrawals from any trust account, unless
approved in writing by a trustee designated by the Supreme Court. The Order provides that any funds tendered
to or received by Harry Max Speight shall be deposited in a trust funds account from which withdrawals may
only be made with the written approval of a trustee to be designated by this Court. Further, the Order serves as
an injunction, enjoining financial institutions maintaining an account against which Harry Max Speight may
make withdrawals from making further payment from any account or accounts on any obligation except with
the written approval of a trustee to be designated by this Court.
The Order requires Mr. Speight to notify by registered or certified mail all clients being
represented in pending matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel of the Supreme Courtâs Order
suspending his law license. Section 18 of Supreme Court Rule 9 requires Mr. Speight to deliver to all clients
any papers or property to which they are entitled.

This suspension remains in effect until dissolution or modification by the Supreme Court. Mr.
Speight may for good cause request dissolution or modification of the suspension by petition to the Supreme
Court.
