Suspended for five (5) years by order entered March 22, 1989. Nine separate complaints were
involved in the disciplinary proceedings: (1) She handled a real estate matter and converted
$1,880 to her personal use; (2) she was retained to represent a client regarding problems with her
car and neglected the case, failed to communicate with them, and lied to them about when their
case was set for trial; (3) she handled a real estate closing for a client and Freedlander Mortgage
and failed to pay Freedlander the $1,714.87 owed it, failed to pay the back taxes on the property
as provided in the closing, and failed to record the deed; (4) in handling another real estate
closing, she failed to record the deed and falsely advised that the deed had been recorded, and
did not pay the $353 she received at closing for a termite treatment; (5) in handling a closing for
a church, as part of the closing she was charged with paying some monies to the Veterans
Administration but delayed in making these payments until the VA threatened foreclosure [even
though the monies had been in her bank account for a considerable time]; (6) she represented
another client in a land dispute and a divorce, but neglected the case and failed to communicate
with her client; and (7) she neglected several other clients' civil matters and failed to
communicate with them. She did not answer the formal charges filed against her and did not
appear at the hearing.
