BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

July 11, 2017
WILLIAMSON COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On July 10, 2017, Jonathan Ryan Johnson, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Mr. Johnson failed to competently represent his client’s interest in the entry of a Qualified Domestic
Relations Order after the client’s divorce had concluded. Mr. Johnson failed to diligently represent his client or
expedite the litigation in his client’s post-divorce case and no Qualified Domestic Relations Order has been
approved or filed with the court in the 30 months since the divorce concluded.
By these acts, Jonathan Ryan Johnson has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1 (competence), 1.3
(diligence), 3.2 (expediting litigation), and 8.4(d) (conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice), and is
hereby Publicly Censured for these violations.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to
practice law.
