DISABILITY INACTIVE STATUS
This matter is before the Court upon a petition to transfer Carol Hardwick Stewart
to disability inactive status ï¬led by the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility
pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.3.
Upon due consideration of documentation from the Social Security Administration
submitted by Ms. Hardwick, the Co'urt concludes that Carol Hardwick Stewart is
currently incapacitated from continuing the practice of law.
It is, therefore, ordered, adjudged and decreed by the Court that:
1. The law license of Carol Hardwick Stewart shall be transferred to disability
inactive status for an indeï¬nite period of time and until further orders of the Supreme
Court.
2. Ms. Stewart shall be allowed to petition for reinstatement to active status
pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.7.
3. The Board shall publish notice of this transfer pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R.
9, §§ 27.5 and 28.11.
4. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 32.4, documents other than this Order
relating to Ms. Stewartâs disability proceeding shall not be public records and shall be
kept conï¬dential.
