MONROE COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On January 28, 2016, Barry Keith Maxwell, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received
a Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
On August 19, 2015, Mr. Maxwellâs law license was suspended for failing to comply with continuing
legal education requirements. From August 20, 2015 through September 28, 2015, Mr. Maxwell practiced law
while his license was suspended.
By this act, Barry Maxwell has violated Rule of Professional Conduct 5.5 (unauthorized practice of law)
and is hereby Publicly Censured for this violation.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
