LINCOLN COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On January 20, 2011, John Dickey, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a Public
Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
On July 2, 2010, Mr. Dickey wrecked his automobile and was subsequently charged with 2nd Offense
DUI, Violation of the Implied Consent Law, and Violation of Due Care. Mr. Dickey admitted to the arresting
officer that he drank a large quantity of alcohol prior to the accident. Mr. Dickeyâs criminal charges triggered
the filing of a petition against him for Violation of Probation for his previous convictions of Reckless
Endangerment (3 counts) and Resisting Arrest, also related to substance abuse. On October 1, 2010, Mr.
Dickey pled guilty to 2nd Offense DUI and Violation of Probation.
By the acts as stated above, John Dickey violated Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4(b) (misconductâ
commission of criminal act reflecting adversely on fitness as a lawyer) and is hereby Publicly Censured for
this violation.
