MONROE COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED

On January 13, 2023, Derek Timothy Green, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received
a Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Mr. Green was hired to file a residential eviction for a client. Mr. Green falsely informed the client that
the warrant had been filed, and the client should appear in court on a date in January 2022, and on three dates in
March 2022. The client appeared in court three times and the matter was not on the docket. Mr. Green then
informed the client that the warrant had not been filed. Mr. Green refunded the fee paid by the client, filed the
warrant in April 2022, and eventually received a judgment for possession and damages for the client.

By the aforementioned acts, Mr. Green has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.3 (diligence) and
8.4(c) (conduct involving dishonesty) and is hereby Publicly Censured for this violation.

A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to
practice law.
