HAWKINS COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED
On September 14, 2012, the Tennessee Supreme Court temporarily suspended the law license of John
Douglas Godbee, a Rogersville attorney, pursuant to Section 4.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, finding
that Mr. Godbee poses a threat of substantial harm to the public. The Board of Professional Responsibility
petitioned the Court to temporarily suspend Mr. Godbeeâs license to practice law because the Supreme Court
reinstated Mr. Godbee by Order dated February 28, 2012, subject to Mr. Godbeeâs full compliance with his
Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP) monitoring agreement. On August 8, 2012, TLAP discharged
Mr. Godbee from his monitoring agreement. Mr. Godbeeâs non-compliance with the Supreme Courtâs Order
reinstating him poses a threat of substantial harm to the public. Mr. Godbee was previously temporarily
suspended by the Supreme Court on August 6, 2012, and that suspension has not been dissolved.
