IN THE SUPREME COURT OF TENNESSEE
AT NASHVILLE
04/14/2023
IN RE: KEITH LANE EDMISTON, BPR #018366
An Attorney Licensed to Practice Law in Tennessee
(Greenville, SC)
______________________________
No. M2023-00110-SC-BAR-BP
BOPR No. 2023-3316-5-AW-27.7
______________________________
ORDER
On February 27, 2023, Keith Lane Edmiston filed an amended petition for
reinstatement pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, section 27, seeking reinstatement to the
active practice of law. Mr. Edmiston has been on disability inactive status since December
15, 2017.
On March 31, 2023, the Board of Professional Responsibility filed a response to Mr.
Edmistonâs amended petition in which it recommends granting Mr. Edmistonâs request for
removal of disability status, reinstating him to inactive status immediately, and postponing
his reinstatement to the active practice of law until resolution of the outstanding
disciplinary complaints against him, which were retired when he was placed on disability
inactive status. The Board relies on Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, section 27.7(b) and (c) as the basis
for its proposed resolution of this matter.
Upon consideration of Mr. Edmistonâs amended petition, the Boardâs response, and
Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, section 27.7, we agree with the Boardâs proposed resolution of this
matter. It is, therefore, ORDERED, ADJUDGED AND DECREED that:
1.
Petitioner, Keith Lane Edmiston, is hereby removed from disability inactive
status in the State of Tennessee pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.7(b).
2.
Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.7 (c), Keith Lane Edmiston shall remain
on inactive status pending resolution of the disciplinary complaints against him and further
order of this Court.
