RELEASE OF INFORMATION
RE: ANTHONY W. TURNER, REG. NO. 15058
CONTACT: JAMES A. VICK
BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
November 6, 2006
CROSSVILLE LAWYER CENSURED
Anthony W. Turner, a Crossville attorney, received a Public Censure from the Board of
Professional Responsibility on November 6, 2006.
In one case, the Complainant slipped and fell in a market on May 5, 1997. Mr. Turner
failed to explain the matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make
informed decisions regarding the representation, in violation of DR 7-101(A)(2)(3) and Rule of
Professional Conduct 1.4.
In another case, Mr. Turner was retained to represent the Complainant in his divorce and
custody matter. An agreement was reached by the parties and announced in open court. A Final
Decree and Parenting Plan were submitted to the court by adversary counsel. The Complainant
did not sign the order because there were errors in the order which the Complainant wanted Mr.
Turner to correct. When the Complainant refused to sign the agreement, Mr. Turner permitted
the Final Decree to be entered by the court. Mr. Turner failed to make corrections in the Final
Decree for which he failed to provide an explanation. By his failures, Mr. Turner violated Rules
of Professional Conduct 1.1, 1.3, and 1.4.
A Public Censure is a form of public discipline which declares the conduct of the lawyer
improper but does not limit the lawyer's right to practice.
