MCNAIRY COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED
On January 7, 2021, the Supreme Court of Tennessee entered an order suspending Bobby Gene Gray
from the practice of law for a period of three (3) years with eight (8) months active suspension and the
remainder on probation, pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9 Section 12.2, retroactive to May 1, 2020.
Mr. Gray must pay the Board of Professional Responsibilityâs costs and expenses and court costs within ninety
days.
Mr. Gray admitted to taking controlled substances from an evidence room while he served as an
assistant district attorney. He entered a plea to official misconduct, theft of less than $1,000.00, and simple
possession of a controlled substance and received judicial diversion.
Mr. Gray executed a conditional guilty plea acknowledging his conduct violated Rules of Professional
Conduct 8.4 (b) and (c) (Misconduct).
Mr. Gray must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Sections 28 and 30.4
regarding the obligations and responsibilities of suspended attorneys and the procedure for reinstatement.
