MEMPHIS LAWYER SUSPENDED
On May 14, 2009, James T. Allison of Memphis, Tennessee, was suspended by the Tennessee Supreme
Court for a period of sixty (60) days pursuant to Rule 9, Section 4.2, of the Rules of the Supreme Court.
Mr. Allison violated disciplinary rules by overdrawing his attorney trust account and commingling
personal and operating funds within his trust account. Mr. Allison paid personal and operating expenses from
his trust account and failed to keep adequate trust account records. Mr. Allison also failed to timely respond to
the inquiries of the Board of Professional Responsibility. Mr. Allisonâs actions violated Tennessee Supreme
Court Rule 8, Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15 (Competence) and 8.1 (Bar Admission and Disciplinary
Matters).
Mr. Allison was furthered ordered to pay the expenses and costs of the disciplinary proceedings against
him, pursuant to Rule 9, Section 4.7, of the Rules of the Supreme Court and fully comply in all respects with the
requirements and obligations of suspended attorneys as set forth in Rule 9, §18.1 of the Rules of the Supreme
Court.
