MEMPHIS LAWYER CENSURED

On April 7, 2008, Brett Stein, of Memphis, Tennessee, received a Public Censure from the Tennessee
Supreme Court.

The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Mr. Stein pursuant to
Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Mr. Stein submitted a Conditional Guilty Plea agreeing to
accept a Public Censure. Mr. Stein failed to challenge the State’s case or present available evidence that would
have protected his client’s interest on the issue of whether or not his client should be tried as an adult. Further,
he failed to call his client as a witness at a transfer hearing in violation Rules 1.1, 1.3, and 8.4(a) and (d) of the
Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. Mr. Stein is also ordered to pay to the Board of Professional
Responsibility expenses and costs of this matter.

For these violations, the Supreme Court of Tennessee publicly censures Brett Stein. This censure
declares Mr. Stein’s conduct to be improper, but does not limit his right to practice law.
