SPRINGFIELD LAWYER PUBLICLY CENSURED

Timothy J. Richter, a Springfield lawyer, was publicly censured by the Board of
Professional Responsibility August 8, 2005. The censure was issued by the Board pursuant to
Rule 9, Section 8, of the Rules of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Richter did not request a
hearing in the matter. Six (6) complaints were filed against Timothy J. Richter of Springfield,
Tennessee charging that Richter neglected his client’s legal matters, failed to adequately
communicate with his client and had an overdraft in his trust account caused by inattention to
which account a deposit should have been made. The Board found Richter’s conduct violated
the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct 1.3; 1.4; 1.5 and 8.4(a)(d). The Board also found
that it was mitigating that Richter took disability inactive status. He has since been reinstated to
the practice of law.

The imposition of this censure declares Richter’s actions to be improper ethical
conduct, but does not limit his right to practice law.
