MEMPHIS LAWYER CENSURED
On April 5, 2016, Kimberly Cross Shields, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Ms. Shields made misrepresentations and omissions to the court and entered an ex parte order without
agreement of opposing counsel.
By these acts, Kimberly Cross Shields has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 3.3 (candor toward
tribunal), 3.5(b) (impartiality and decorum of tribunal), 4.4(a) (respect for rights of third persons), and 8.4(a),
(c), and (d) (misconduct) and is hereby Publicly Censured for these violations.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
