IN DISCIPLINARY DISTRICT IV
OF THE
BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
OF THE
SUPREME COURT OF TENNESSEE

IN RE: Jerry Baxter Jackson, #016745 FILE Nos. 71577c-4-ES, 74022-4-ES
Respondent, an attorney licensed
to practice law in Tennessee
____________________________________________________________________________

PUBLIC CENSURE
____________________________________________________________________________

The above complaint was filed against Jerry B. Jackson, an attorney licensed to practice

law in Tennessee, alleging certain acts of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, the Board

of Professional Responsibility considered this matter at its meeting on December 8, 2023.

In one client matter, Respondent represented a client in a petition to modify a parenting

plan. The court set a deadline for the client to file an amended parenting plan, and Respondent

delayed providing a draft amended plan for the client for approval until the day before the deadline.

The client then failed to sign the draft plan, and Respondent took no action to extend the deadline

with the court. Respondent then failed to attend the court’s next scheduled hearing. Respondent

filed a motion to withdraw from the matter and noted in the motion that the client “refused” to

cooperate.

In another client matter, Respondent failed to respond to a motion for summary judgment

on behalf of his client, and failed to explain the effect of the motion to the client.

By the aforementioned acts, Jerry B. Jackson, is in violation of Rules of Professional

Conduct 1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication), 1.6 (confidentiality of information), 3.4 (fairness

to opposing party and counsel) and 8.4(d) (prejudice to the administration of justice) and is hereby

Publicly Censured for these violations.
