SIGMAN, JOE A. BPR # 005399

January 22, 1997

Public censure on January 22, 1997. He was held in contempt of court for failing to respond to a
show cause order and failing to ensure that the transcript was properly filed on behalf of his
client. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, all of which was suspended upon the condition that
he successfully complete a contract with Lawyers Helping Lawyers. After the Court was
advised that Sigman had stopped making contact with Lawyers Helping Lawyers, the Court
revoked the suspension of a contempt order and found that Sigman failed to show good cause
why he did not appear for a hearing on March 5, 1996, again held him in contempt and sentenced
him to 10 days incarceration. Sigman appealed the Court of Criminal Appeals' decision to the
Supreme Court. The Supreme Court denied his application and issued a capias.
