By Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court entered February 17, 2017, the law license of Randall Lee
Nelson was transferred to disability inactive status pursuant to Section 27.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court
Rule 9.
Mr. Nelson cannot practice law while on disability inactive status. He may return to the practice of
law after reinstatement by the Tennessee Supreme Court upon showing of clear and convincing evidence
that the disability has been removed and he is ï¬t to resume the practice of law.

DISABILITY INACTIVE STATUS
This matter is before the Court upon a petition to transfer Randall Lee Nelson to
disability inactive status ï¬led by the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility
pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R, 9, § 27.3.
Upon due consideration of documentation from Mr. Nelsonâs medical care
provider, the Court concludes that Randall Lee Nelson is currently incapacitated from
continuing the practice of law.
IT IS, THEREFORE, CONSIDERED, ORDERED, ADJUDGED AND
DECREED BY THE COURT THAT:
I. The law license of Randall Lee Nelson shall be transferred to disability
inactive status for an indeï¬nite period of time and until further orders of the Supreme
Court.
2. Mr. Nelson shall be allowed to petition for reinstatement to active status
pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 27.7.
3. The Board shall publish notice of this transfer pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R.
9, §§ 27.5 and 28.11.
4. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 32.4, documents other than this Order
relating to Mr. Nelsonâs disability proceeding shall not be public records and shall be
kept conï¬dential.
