MEMPHIS ATTORNEY PUBLICLY CENSURED
Michael C. Skouteris, a Memphis attorney, was publicly censured by the Supreme
Court of Tennessee on June 12, 2006. The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition
for Discipline against Skouteris pursuant to Rule 9, Rules of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Skouteris submitted a Conditional Guilty Plea agreeing to a Public Censure to resolve the
Petition pursuant to Section 16.1 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9.
Skouteris admitted his guilt of making statements to the Court, which were false,
without performing a reasonably diligent inquiry in violation of Rules 3.3(a)(1) and 8.4(a)(d) of
the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct.
On June 12, 2006, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order publicly
censuring Skouteris for violation of these rules.
The censure declares Skouterisâ actions to be improper ethical conduct, but does
not limit Skouterisâ right to practice law.
