MEMPHIS ATTORNEY SUSPENDED FROM PRACTICE OF LAW
Dixie White Ishee, a Memphis attorney, has been suspended from the practice of law in this state
for a period of four (4) months by Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court entered on June 12, 2007. The Court
suspended Ishee based upon a Petition filed by the Board of Professional Responsibility based on Isheeâs selfreport that she had given conflicting testimony in two (2) depositions in cases pending in Shelby County.
A hearing was held April 28, 2005 and the Hearing Panel found that âRespondentâs
misrepresentations and false testimony in her 1998 deposition was pre-meditated and was made with a
dishonest or selfish motive and that such intent and motive continued as evidenced by the false documents
submitted in the divorce case; that is, to conceal from her husband the actual nature of her fee arrangement with
the Deal-Holton Law Firm.â The Hearing Panel recommended that Ishee be suspended from the practice of law
for a period of four (4) months.
Ishee appealed the Hearing Panel decision and on February 16, 2006 the matter was heard by the
Honorable Jerry Scott, Senior Judge, sitting by designation, who found that a suspension of four (4) months is
fully supported by the evidence and that the Hearing Panel decision is the Judgment of the Chancery Court of
Shelby County. Ishee filed a Notice of Appeal, but decided to dismiss her Notice of Appeal and comply with
the suspension of four (4) months. On June 12, 2007 the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order of
Enforcement suspending Ishee from the practice of law for a period of four (4) months.
Section 18 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9 required Ishee to notify by registered or certified
mail all clients being represented in pending matters; all co-counsel and opposing counsel of the Supreme
Courtâs Order suspending her. Section 18 also requires Ishee to deliver to all clients any papers or property to
which they are entitled.
